Issue 10 of La Petite Magazine hit the web this morning, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve LOVED working closely with Editor-in-Chief Rachelle of Kenziepoo on the design of the past three issues, as each issue is FILLED with edgy, unique and beautiful imagery for parents and children. Here are a few of my favorite opening spreads…

In every issue, I add something else to my wishlist. Since I’m expecting Pip in 8 short weeks, I’m looking with him in mind now, and I absolutely LOVE this Bear Blanket/Rug (shown on Page 191, Petite Style, in the magazine). I’ve added it to my list of wants for Pip’s room, and I’m hoping I can swing it… Please check out the rest of the magazine, so much talent and beauty showcased on every page: La Petite Magazine / Issue 10

A few months ago, Shane and I went on an amazing trip around Europe (Paris > Barcelona > Berlin > Munich > all over Ukraine). After 21+ days, Shane shot thousands & thousands of photos. As you can imagine when you are back to your daily life, it’s super overwhelming to go through all of them! BUT we’ve finally gone through and made selections, and will start sharing over the next little bit!

A recent design project I worked on was for the fashion brand Lauren Bagliore, originally from New York City, Lauren shares her time between Canada and New York. I was really excited to work on her rebranding, and what we created really spoke to every aspect of her label. Her brand is edgy, monochromatic, asian-influenced, and it stands for a purpose (she is passionate about fighting to end human-trafficking). We wanted a mark that made a statement, had distinct style and was relatively timeless. After a lot of research on her brand and where she wanted to position herself in the industry, I concepted and then presented a few options, and Lauren was automatically drawn to this mark – for many reasons it was just THE ONE to her & her team. I love when clients see themselves in the design – when all of your research, brainstorming, ideation and concepting creates the perfect representation. That’s the sweet spot.

A special extra to the project was attending Toronto Fashion Week, to see the Lauren Bagliore S/S 2013 collection walk the runway, and to see her new brand projected behind the models. What an amazing feeling to see your designs out in the real world – and not just on the computer screen!

I was recently interviewed by MagCloud for their Publisher Q&A series. We’ve been working with MagCloud for the past 11 issues of WLWL magazine, and they’ve really played a huge part in the magazine. Even in a world moving more and more digital, I would never give up the option of a printed copy. There is nothing quite like holding a magazine in your hands & flipping the pages. A friend was visiting this weekend, and as we were driving around exploring the city she put on the new Taylor Swift. I’m not a regular listener to T.Swift, but her new album RED is really strong. & this duet with Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol is stunning. Enjoy!

I’m really lucky to work with such amazing clients. Clients that have huge vision, drive and passion for what they do. One of my most favorite projects that I work on is: La Petite Mag. Created by Rachelle from Kenziepoo, it’s a parent’s/children wonderland, in magazine form. I started working with Rachelle on issue 8, when I was sans-baby but was still completely inspired by the magazine and often wished that some of the pieces came in grown-up sizes! And now with baby on the way, I’m completely over-the-moon that I get to work on such a creative and beautiful project. Plus, I just want to suit my little Pip in all of the clothing from Mini Rodini & Bobo Choses! This momma’s gonna go broke.

It’s true! We found out that our family of Shane + I will be welcoming a little BOY Pip in March! I wanted to share the news, and really can’t contain my excitement. We have thought from the beginning it was a BOY – and I really wanted a mini-Shane running around the house (I mean, look at that photo! Who can resist?!). Can’t wait to meet our little BOY.

I’ve begun to pin more & more BOY stuff, and this only adds to my excitement. No pink & ruffles at my house! Only tweed, leather arm patches, suspenders and bowler hats!

Last week, I stopped by my dear friend Joanna’s blog for a fun little interview where I chat about my design journey! It was really fun to think back to where I started, to remember both the hard and happy times… I think I’m sometimes in full focus-mode, tunnel vision to the max, that I forget to come up for air and reflect on what has happened, how I got to this place, and if it’s actually where I wanted to be. Thankfully, I’m where I want to be, but still itching (& pushing myself) to get to new heights… I hope you are all in that same place of joy, but with the lingering feeling of never being fully satisfied.

PS. the photo of me (above) is from our trip to Paris this summer, and I was about 5 weeks pregnant. And today, at over 22+ weeks, I am stretching that dress out to new proportions! I actually think I fully popped JUST yesterday, and I finally look more like I’m carrying a small baby in my belly, and less like I raided a small child’s Halloween stash. Oh dear!
