Here is a recent design project for Paige Lowe Photography.

I developed the overall branding for the beautiful & bubbly Paige, who is an up & coming photographer in southern California. She wanted a brand that would appeal to both a male & female audience, but still felt playful and edgy.

THE BLOG IS BACK.

After a lot of thinking + planning + designing + redesigning + developing, we’re back!

To be honest, lately, I have been very overwhelmed by the number of blogs out there and the feelings of not being good enough (or original enough). These feelings, along with being unsatisfied with the overall design of my old blog, left me making every excuse in the book to avoid my blog space. Through this redesign process, I did a lot of thinking about blogging, and realized the reason I started in the first place was to simply have a special place where I could share my favorite things. My very own show & tell. I’m going back to the basics. I’m going to share the things that I’m finding, loving and really really REALLY excited about. It will range from design to fashion, from typography to shoes, from a new music video to my favorite coffee shop, from white washed walls to the best dry shampoo. I’m getting excited just typing about it!

& design-wise, I wanted to create a space online that I could play in & that made me smile every time I clicked on the URL. Plus, there are little features throughout the site that just make me so happy, like the left sidebar space that I can add an image/scribble/block of color/whatever I want for each post (and it gives me a lot of flexibility for mixing things up!). I love blog design, and after working with clients to design their own blogs, I am pumped to finally work some design magic on myself! Can’t wait to dive in and start blogging…

I am incredibly thankful for my developer, Zoe, who is the best partner-in-crime a designer could ever ask for. Anything I dreamed up, she made possible. Plus, her sense of humor is the best! I’m excited to work with her on future projects for Alyssa Yuhas Design, as she is a kick-ass developer.

I also should give a little shout-out to my favorite boy, who puts up with my art-direction and spontaneous photo shoots. I’m so lucky to have married a photographer, as he always makes me look so good!

So, that’s it! Welcome back old & new friends, I hope you’ll jump on the new ride.

Here is a treat from the talented Andy Shauf / who is currently sporting a very “Ron Burgundy-esque” moustache. I was lucky enough to hear him play live this weekend & was completely captivated by his performance. You’ll definitely want to listen to more of his music… so here is another:

We are heading to Europe in 3.5 months (ahh!), and one of our stops is Barcelona. I just came across this amazing modern loft (in Barcelona)– a converted bomb shelter and print shop. It’s a dream, and if we can save all of our pennies, we may never come back from Spain. The high ceilings and exposed brick are unreal– & the parties, photoshoots, and dinners you could host in a space like this– can you imagine?!
