Nick Waterhouse’s debut album, Time’s All Gone, released earlier this year but sounds like it was released in the early 60s – the days of Motown. I am so excited by Nick’s throwback sound. I am seeing Nick at a little venue here in Nashville at the end of September. I would love to look cute and retro in this outfit at the concert. I am absolutely in love with that Pleaty Please Dress!

In 2010 Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers, released a solo album titled Flamingo. I’m a huge fan of The Killers so I ran right out and bought Mr. Flowers album. Its one of those albums that is just special from start to finish. Brandon Flowers has a glossy, glamorous quality to his music, which is no surprise since Flowers is from Las Vegas. Flamingo is one of my go-to-albums. It always puts me in a good mood.

After I finished this weeks post I realized that the travel + adventure bug must have bitten me because this weeks post is full of imagery of wilderness, travel, & camping — as was last week’s post. Its kind of like the big argument over what came first the chicken or the egg. Does the music I am currently listening to inspire me to travel or is my desire to travel cultivating my music choice? Whatever the reason — I am absolutely loving The Lumineers’ album and find their song “Hey Ho” stuck in my head constantly.

The Head And The Heart came into the music scene and swept up the hearts of many. This indie folk rock band makes me crave days full of adventure and a life full of travel. When I listen to them I want to be riding a bike on a dirt road, kayaking down a dark cool river, or exploring the undiscovered paths in the forest. Their music stirs your heart to get up and live life beautifully and full of adventure. Their debut album The Head And The Heart is the perfect sound for summer.

If you’ve ever listened to Regina Spektor then you know that is no secret that this lady is quirky with a capital “Q”. But don’t let her quirkiness fool you – there is a beauty in her music coupled with a unique perspective of the world. Back in 2007 I saw Miss Spektor perform. She came out on the stage dressed in what she called her “disco ball dress”. She twisted it back and forth letting the light catch it and reflect back on the audience the way a disco ball would. She giggled like a little girl playing dress up & then reached over to pick up her beautiful turquoise Epiphone Wildkat guitar. I was mesmerized by her charm. When I started putting this post together it needed to be super feminine with that dash of quirk. Can’t you just see her wearing those dinosaur earrings?
