I had the pleasure of seeing Walk The Moon open for Fitz and The Tantrums last fall. I had never heard of them before so I was definitely in for a surprise. They put on a really fun, high energy show. They just released their first album and I guarantee you can’t sit still when you listen. They’ll have you up and dancing in no time.

So, this year has been the biggest year of my life. (& that’s an understatement)
I started off the year, by doing 3 major presentations on design, one being at Alt Summit (this is BIG for me, as I am more comfortable hanging out backstage than being front & centre). Then, I quit my full-time job at an advertising agency in February and started my own business (a scary, huge & amazing move & the BEST decision!). I thought all of that was pretty big, and didn’t think this year could handle much more. But, I was wrong & here is the biggest change yet…
From Calgary to Toronto we go. It’s crazy. It’s exciting. It’s terrifying. And, it’s surreal. I don’t think I’ll fully believe it until we are setting up house in TO. We move soon! August to be exact. The funny thing is, Shane has never even been to Toronto! We are definitely making a huge leap and we can’t even wait to see where this big step takes us.
It’s a big move, as you can see (above), Toronto is far from Calgary. A 3.5 hour flight or 3,300 kms. I’m going to miss Calgary terribly. It’s such a bittersweet decision. Our family is here, and we have such amazing friends – I can’t even imagine how hard August will be when we say our “goodbyes”. But, when you know it’s time to move onto a new adventure, you HAVE to go.
So you are probably wondering, why? Why would you just pick up everything, pack your life in boxes, sell your things and move across the country? Well, first off: why not? Shane and I have been talking a lot lately about taking risks, living a life with no regrets and not just staying in something or somewhere because it is easy and comfortable. We aren’t meaning we are going to be reckless and vagabond, but we are going to jump at opportunities when they come our way. Life is too short. We want to live a life of adventure! But how TORONTO all happened was our dear friends (Sam & Jess), friends who married us, friends who we love with all of our hearts, are going to start a church in downtown Toronto starting Fall 2012. Shane and I have been working with Sam & Jess, volunteering our time and talents towards design & media at our church for a few years now, and we knew as soon as they said they were going to start something new – we had to go with them. We are starting something big & beautiful & loving & exciting in downtown Toronto. I can’t wait.

Well, that is what’s happening in my life! It’s going to be a wild few months, working with my amazing clients, going to Europe and then moving across the country. I don’t know what the future has in store, but it’s bright & new & exciting! Let’s live a life full of adventure & no regrets…

The Weeknd “Lonely Star”
Ryan Adams has been releasing music for over 10 years and has such a large catalog of music to show for it. He is one of those artists that has a cult following and I must admit I belong to the cult of Ryan Adams. Last fall he released his newest album, Ashes & Fire, and I was not disappointed. The album opens with Dirty Rain, a smoky & soothing song, a story about change, & about being lost and found. Adams has the tendency to cross genres – he has released albums with genres of alt-country, rock, americana, singer / songwriter. This album seems to fit right into the alt-country genre. Like you need a cigar and whiskey while you are listening. Its smoky, warm, and just simply makes you feel good.

In 3 weeks, the mister and I will be in Europe! I can’t even believe it. We’ve been so busy, that I’m not sure we will even have a chance to plan what we will do when we get there. But I have been dreaming about our perfect experience in each city we visit:
Paris / I’m going to wear my Carrie Bradshaw Paris outfit (I bought a similar outfit YEARS ago with hopes to one day wear it in Paris! Embarrassing? Maybe!?). And then we will drink wine, eat cheese & baguettes by the Eiffel Tour.
Barcelona / We are going to lounge by the water during the day, and dance ALL night.
Berlin / We will rent bicycles and read poetry by the river.
Munich / Join in on beer pub crawl and then visit the famous cuckoo clock.
